School Closings

In the event of a school closing, Mr. Rehl will place a call using our School Messenger System to each family’s main contact number. This call is usually made before 6:00 a.m. on the day of a closure. If you don’t get a call, please let us know. District #133 provides closure information to WIFR and WREX TV stations. You can sign up to get a text message from WIFR if we close.

Posting pictures and video on Facebook or Youtube
Please remember that while you may have some great footage of your child from a school event that you can’t wait to share with family and friends on Facebook, you need to be very careful. Please remember that other children may be in the pictures too, and their parents may prefer their images kept private. Many social networking sites have privacy settings – please consider their use.

New School Bus Provider
Prairie Hill District #133 is part of a transportation cooperative which includes Rockton, Kinnikinnick, South Beloit, and Hononegah. This increases our bargaining power and allows us to get the best possible services for the best possible price. We recently signed a three year agreement with Illinois Central School Bus Company. Although this is a major change at the administration level, we’d like to assure families that they will notice little if any change. Indeed, the students will be greeted by the very same bus drivers who chauffeured them to and from school last year. Pickup and drop off times should be relatively the same and the actual routes may not vary at all. Information on your child’s times and bus stop will be mailed the week of August 16th. Illinois Central has been in business for a long time and has a good track record providing transportation services for many other Districts. As always, if you experience any discomfort with the new company, feel free to call your child’s school at 815-389-3957 and let us know. The number for Illinois Central is (815) 525-0200.

Mission Statement

Provide learning opportunities and experiences to our students for a lifetime of growth and development.

No Cell Phone Use Allowed While Driving in a School Zone!
Please note that Illinois State Law has been changed, and that any use of a cell phone in a school zone is now illegal. We certainly need to promote the safest possible environment for our children, so please, if your car is running, your phone can’t be!
